"Comfortable and Perfect for a family."
Reviewed 15 March 2012

Stayed here for 3 nights in March. The place is spotlessly clean and well mantained. I stayed with my wife and a very naughty 3 year old boy who enjoyed immensely.
We were out during the day BUT evenings and nights were spent here.
The room is a comfortable one with wooden laminated flooring as the weather is really cold for 8 months in a year and the wooden floor helps it keep warm. They have brilliant heaters and electric blankets that keep you snug. Hot showers and spacious bathrooms.
Also comes with a mini kitchen and seperate sitting area so you get a mini pad for the price of a room.
Breakfast is simple western / indian fare.
They will prepare a nice home cooked meal which we had one day and the other 2 days ended up bringing food from the mall which they served us hot when we asked for.
We had our own car so going to the mall was a 20 minute ride BUT if you dont have a car they will be happy to arrange for a taxi at a nominal price.
The place is super quiet and beautiful if one wants to spend some quality time. The views are also great. Absolutely recommended.

rest away from hectic city life.

"Excellent Homestay!"

We really enjoyed our stay at Aapo Aap Home Stay last January. We arrived (very) early in the morning, Shivi had arranged a pick up from the bus station for us and gave us a warm welcome. He offered us some tea before showing us to our lovely (huge) room. It was quite cold in Shimla but the heater and the electric blankets were amazing. The first day we had a really nice walk around the hill and found it very peaceful. To go to Shimla, we took the bus which only took about 30min and was fairly easy for us, but it is a quick taxi ride away otherwise. Shivi was a very friendly host and his staff was also lovely. We had dinner twice and the food was excellent, not to mention the awesome breakfast!

Mr & Mrs Singh Family - Singapore

Our long drive from Manali to Shimla and arriving late evening made us so exhausted and tired. But with Great and Superb Warmth Service provided by Shivi and others, my Family felt so LuCkY to stay at Aapo Aap.

We family of 4 adults with tennage kids were given such a big place to stay with unBeatable price for our 1st trip to India. We felt so relax and like it's "Our Home" stay with Comfortable Bed (electric blanket & Heater) and Clean Bathroom, Kitchen and Dining Hall with Fantastic View. We managed to see beautiful scenary surrounding the hills especially when it was Full Moon with sweet kheer prepared by Shivi's helpers. As well as snow covering the grills the next morning. Moreover, Shivi recommended some interesting places and also great eating places during our visits in Shimla.

We would like to Thank Shivi and his family plus his helpers for all the Great hospitality offerred to us during our Stay. Really Appreciate It :)

"Best stay of our trip"
6 February 2012

We stayed with Shivi and his family for two nights in January. We arrived late at night but he was there to greet us and had a hot supper prepared for us, which was most welcome. Due to the extreme cold, Shivi provided us with electric blankets and heaters for the room, which consisted of a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and shared lounge area.

The views from our balcony were spectacular, staying anywhere closer to town would have been a waste. It was well worth the taxi ride into town each day, to stay in such a fantastic DIRECTIONS. The DIRECTIONS is quite difficult to find for some taxi drivers so ask Shivi in advance to arrange a pick up.

The food was amazing, and very authentic. If you don't like your food spicy, the cook would simply make the dishes mild, with spicy side dishes you can add. Every effort was made to make us comfortable, and Shivi even let us use his laptop and printer.

I would definitely stay at the Aapo Aap Homestay again. It was the best place we stayed at in India.

"Surely the best homestay in India?"
Reviewed 23 January 2012

We arrived at Aapo Aap for our 3 night stay late in the evening after the 5hr 'Toy Train' up from Kalka to Shimla rail station, and the half hour (IR300/400) taxi ride to Panthanghati from there. And it was well worth the long journey! A lovely warm welcome in this huge family house was awaiting us from Shivi and his fantastic staff. I've literally not got one bad word to say about it. The rooms are huge and well thought-out; ours had a separate lounge and little kitchen with tea/coffee/drinking water. The balconies are enormous with jaw-dropping views. The home-cooked veggie food served up every night and morning in the family dining room is simply superb. The service is just first class and it seems as if Shivi has thought of everything; We were travelling with our 20 month-old toddler and there were toys/baby monitors etc. Extra 'roomservice' like laundry is done with a smile and minimum of fuss by the lovely Kirin. You're supplied with a mobile phone to keep in contact with him during daily excursions which he's more than happy to arrange for you. Shivi even invited us to his forthcoming wedding which unfortunately we were unable to attend. It's an excellent set-up with a absolutely first-class host. All in all this must surely be the best homestay in India!

"The Best Ever"

We finally reached the Home Stay after an endless journey from the airport. This was well worth the journey as we arrived at this beautiful house in a fantastic setting with views to die for. Shivi, the owner/manager greeted us and took us to our accommodation. This was huge, consisting of bedroom with en-suite, plus a large fully-fitted kitchen, and a large lounge with TV and dvd player. Everything you could wish for is supplied, even a mobile phone provided by Shivi in case you need any advice or help! Evening meals are available at a very reasonable charge and, like the breakfast, the food is freshly cooked with great variety and plenty of it. Shivi always eats with his guests and is a great host and very helpful. The stay we had here is one of best memories of India. Stay here. It's wonderful!
Room Tip: All rooms are great. Fantastic views from balcony/terrace.

We were here for only 2 days, wish it had been longer. The beautiful house on top of the hills outside Shimla made for a very quiet and peaceful stay. We had a suite of rooms which were very comfortable. The huge terrace with such wonderful views was such a bonus. Shivi and family and their staff made us very welcome and the food was so good. Hope to come back for longer!

I found my stay in Aaapoaap quite enjoyable. Isolated from the crowded Simla, the
Taradevi temple enroute it is a perfection DIRECTIONS for a nature lover. As our age commanded, I and my wife wanted a place to stay which is fitting our wallet, a neat and tidy set up and we were glad we found the same when we reached Aaapoaap. Thanks for the hospitality as long as we were there, particularly the excellent kitchen support. The evenings were wonderful for us to share some time with you, elderly couple.

On Spiritual parameters, Aapo Aap gives you total energy of facing the rising sun. In its south west, there is spiritual protection of Maa Tara Devi. The terrace, on which the meditation room is located, has beautiful unobstructed view which is ideally suited for Sadhna. The mediation room with its tapering conical roof lined with wood and having big glass windows on all sides makes it an ideal place for merging individual consciousness in Cosmic Consciousness.

"Aapo Aap" literally means "On Its Own" (Swatah-in Hindi). This name has been inspired by our Guruji's place known as "Dera Aapo Aap" ("Dera" means "Living Abode")
